The Basics: Pizza Sauce

This is one of those simple standby recipes good on any pizza. You can see there are both pepperoni lovers and veggie lovers in this home. By the following picture, you can see the veggie lover is somewhat outnumbered. I actually like it all, but as I get older I am loving grilled peppers and onions more and more and liking pepperoni less and less.

I know if my mom is reading this she is shocked because when I was growing up I was the only one in the family who hated peppers and onions. She always told me to keep trying things because your tastes change as you get older. I tell my boys this and they don't believe me. But one day maybe they will be eating the pepper and onion corner of the family pizza.

Recipe for Pizza sauce

1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/4-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper (or to taste)

Mix together and spread over two 12" pizza crusts.

What do you like on your pizza?

  1. I'm with you, Heather. I now like the onions and peppers more than the pepperoni!

  2. I would love to know what type of pans you use to make your pizzas in.

  3. Jenifer, it is sweet of you to ask. These pans are really nothing special. They are just nonstick pizza pans. They were a gift several years ago and I don't even know the brand. They have served me well. I also sometimes use my jelly roll pan. Thank for stopping by!
